Fall Workshop 2017

Location:
Date:
Saturday, September 23, 2017 (All day)

Wyoming ACDA invites all vocal folks (Singers mainly- not necessarily only those with opinions that are desperate to be heard!  lol !  But they can still come!) to our Fall Conference at Casper College September 23, 2017.  Our day will begin with a 25 minute all-together Singspiration at 9:00 a.m., followed by a 70 minute Children’s Choir session and then a 70 minute secondary session.  Lunch will be on your own at the student union, and the afternoon encompasses a sharing reading session, a website navigation tutorial, and a concluding meeting.

We are not charging for this year’s event, not even for non-ACDA members that would like to attend!  College attendees will learn about the discounted memberships created for Wyoming pre-service music students, and others considering new membership can be considered for one of the 10 free Active Memberships offered by our National ACDA as part of our Sing-Up membership campaign.

If you are interested in joining us, I need to hear from you!  Invite a friend!  I am going to create a list of attendees via e-mail responses.  Also, I would like attendees to send to me discussion topics that I can send to our session leaders.  Marcia Patton has agreed to serve as our Children’s Choir session leader, and our secondary session leaders will be Nicole Lamartine and Holly Dalrymple from UW .

For those that have been teaching a while, could I also ask you to consider choosing 2 or more “tried and true” pieces (should be still in print) that you could bring and lead at the afternoon session?  I would like you to share your insights about the piece and your personal experience in preparing it, including specific choral concepts that could be taught through the piece.  (I don’t know about you, but I have been in a number of professional development inservices over the years when I felt like the material being presented was hardly applicable to what I did in my classroom, but when I visited the session rooms in the recent All-State conference in Cody, I noticed the vast amount of experience and knowledge that was present, and I would like us to offer it to each other.)  We will collect your vocal scores at the conclusion of the reading session and return them to you.  (Correct!  No one gets to keep your music!) but if you would be so kind to send to me the name of the piece, composer, publisher, and publisher’s item number I will create a repertoire list of our pieces to be shared.
